At CSRL, one of the best ngo for education in India, we know our work cannot cease due to any reason. Since the people we serve are less privileged and downtrodden individuals already going through financial and social problems, it is even more important that we step up our effort further. So how do we follow all the rules of social distancing amidst pandemics while continuing to serve our students? Along with our own program to provide free education for poor but talented students, CSRL has been connecting people to organizations for various other needs. On the education end, we are rapidly developing a new model of interaction with our students and motivating and inspiring them to keep themselves and their loved ones safe and happy. Some of the tech and organizational changes we’ve adopted across all CSRL projects are:
Other than this, the overwhelming effect this has on the economy also means that CSRL may face financial difficulty for some of its programs. CSR in India is helping these institutions to gather funds for their educational program. Our CSRL mentors took on the challenge of covering the entire syllabus to e-learning and they are succeeding! These e-classes are resuming our students’ preparation, and keeping them involved, motivated, and connected to their classmates and educators. NGO education in India is playing an important role in imparting education in poor and downtrodden during the current challenging time. We anticipate that e-learning will become a standard practice and a need. We have vowed not to leave any student behind amidst this pandemic situation. Our students are hard-working students with dreams of achievement and social progress. In India IIT entrance exam has been considered as the great leveler. Every engineering aspirant tries hard to crack the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) to get admission to the country's prominent institutes such as IITs, NITs, IIITs. Coaching helps students by providing the right direction and study material to achieve their dream of getting admission into top engineering colleges of India through JEE Main and JEE Advanced. But many poor students living in villages don’t get such opportunities due to financial problems and lack of facilities. Private coaching institutes demand a huge amount of money from students for preparing them for entrance exams like IIT-JEE, NEET, and UGC-NET. But now this problem has been taken care of by various PSU companies through their CSR initiative and launching of free IIT coaching classes for poor students. The initiative was launched in partnership with the Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL), an educational NGO, to give free coaching and free education for IIT jee to young aspirants from the underprivileged section of society to succeed in IIT JEE and other engineering entrance examinations. The sponsoring organization bears the entire cost of one-year intensive coaching, study material, food, and accommodation for the students along with various other things. The project would significantly help downtrodden students from rural areas. Although, this would unquestionably harm the business of private coaching institutes sprouting across the country. However, the initiative would also interest more students who are thinking to appear for these highly ambitious exams to avail of this free IIT preparation initiative. The plan is to take this initiative beyond just coaching classes and turn them into an abode for poor students. Since students won't have to pay any fees and so will be primarily helpful for talented but poor students from the section of society where hopes are high but private coaching is unlikely due to financial limitations. Education is the only way to propel the growth of society and the country. While many countries have world-class colleges and universities that provide high-quality higher education, India has the only handful of quality institutes such as IITs, NITs, IIMs, AIIMS, etc. With a plethora of students preparing for getting admission in these prestigious institutes, it is not an easy task to crack their entrance examination. For example, if we take the JEE exam for admission into IITs, every year lakhs of students sit for JEE advance exam and only a few thousands of students make it to IITs. What is the reason behind this? Let’s go further and see. By seeing the trends over the last few years, it can be seen that coaching and mentorship have become essential for students to crack these tough exams. While rich and affluent students pay a heavy amount to get proper guidance in reputed coaching institutes, poor but talented students lack this facility and lag in competition. Without proper coaching and mentorship, it becomes very difficult for poor students to compete with privileged ones. To alleviate the pressure of students and provide the opportunity to compete with others, CSRL came up with its free coaching and mentorship program ‘Real Super 30.’ Under this program, one-year residential coaching and mentorship are provided to students to crack the IIT JEE entrance exam. The training program by CSRL is based on ‘Abhayanand Super 30’ – a similar program being conducted for poor and underprivileged students aspiring to get into the IIT. Since its inception, the program has benefited thousands of students who have cleared the entrance exam and got admission into prestigious engineering colleges in India. With an aim to help deprived students achieve their dream of getting into the IIT by clearing jee, CSRL with the help of corporates is providing jee mains free preparation for downtrodden and poor but talented students. Children constitute more than 30% of India’s population i.e. more than 400 million. Out of these, maximum children have never been to school due to a lack of access to formal education. Apart from it, the literacy rate in India stands at 74% which is very low compared to the world’s average literacy rate i.e. 84%. According to a report published by UNICEF, the dropout rate in India is very high. Around 100 million children don’t complete even elementary school. This doesn’t augur well for the future of the country that boasts about its young population. Though the government is taking initiatives to improve the education level in the country, it is the responsibility of the corporate sector as well to do their part through corporate social responsibility in India. How CSR can help change the educational landscape in India? Let’s have a look.
Most educational CSR or social responsibility in India, initiatives can help companies to maintain long term growth and profitability and improve their level of recognition among local populations. Through this they can meet their CSR obligations and can probably operate with an increased ability to hire and retain employees, fulfilling growth targets at a much faster pace. CSRL, a registered society that works in the field of improving education in India is helping poor and downtrodden children to get quality education in premium Indian colleges and universities. Education plays an important role in an individual’s life. It’s been decades since India gained independence from British rule, but still, the level of education and its access is not equal for everyone. For some gaining quality education is very easy while some people don’t get an opportunity to study in premium colleges and the university of India. There are various reasons behind this disparity and being poor is one among them. Many students who are talented and capable of studying in premium Indian colleges and university, but they don’t get the opportunity due to lack of resources, proper guidance, and money. The Center for Social Responsibility and Leadership recognized the issue being faced by poor and downtrodden students, hence came up with free coaching for IIT and other prestigious entrance exams in the country like CAT, NEET, etc. CSRL is a registered society that works primarily in the field of education. Since its inception, the society has been growing all across India with its centers in almost every Indian states. One of the famous and well-known programs of CSRL is the super 30 program. The result of super 30 has been very satisfying with more than 800 students cleared the prestigious exam and studying in institutes like NIT, IIT, AIIMS, IIMs, etc. The CSRL has made free IIT coaching classes accessible for all who are unable to pay the hefty amount of money in private institutes. The step has been taken under the corporate social responsibility scheme in which various corporates put their money for poor student’s studies. With the aim of making a better society, CSRL has been working towards it arduously. Real super 30, a flagship initiative by CSRL, has shown consistent growth in results and student satisfaction since its inception in 2009. The initiative is highly acknowledged and appreciated for its uniqueness in providing free education for poor students. Therefore, it is regarded as one of the best coaching classes for IIT preparation for underprivileged and talented students. There are various reasons behind the success of this program such as experienced faculty members, result-oriented material, effective teaching methodology, sound infrastructure, etc. Apart from providing mentorship for the IIT JEE exam, CSRL also offers various programs for other exams like NEET, CAT, etc. and many more. There are many factors behind the success of this program. Let’s just go through some of them. Experienced Faculty Members: All the classes under this program are taken up by highly experienced faculty members. Each subject has different faculty who are an expert in that particular subject. Most of the faculty have more than a decade of experience in teaching and mentoring students preparing for IIT JEE and other entrance examinations. Apart from guiding students for exams, these faculties also mentor students in inculcating societal and moral values. Doubt Clearing Session: Apart from regular classes, a doubt clearing session is also held at a regular interval to solve student’s doubts. The utmost care has been taken in this area to make students solve real exam questions without an iota of doubts. Also, it is kept in mind that students get their doubts cleared by the best faculty. Care for Students: The program is a one-year residential program based on Abhayanand Super 30. Students stay here in a homely environment and proper care is taken of them to make sure they don’t face any hardship during preparation. To help students overcome anxiety and stress, regular counseling is provided to them. It is all these factors coupled with some others that make the super 30 programs by CSRL a famous one among poor students. So far it has benefited more than 800 students and strives to increase this number every year. CSR i.e. Corporate Social Responsibility is the way through which corporates address the social issues being faced by a large group of people. It means taking initiatives that benefit society. Corporate Social Responsibility in India has attained a new height in the development of society and its people. Businesses are no longer only concerned about selling their products and services without taking into account the world in which they function. A CSR initiative includes many things from giving away some portion of profits for social cause to charity. Through this initiative, companies are contributing in the betterment of society. CSR is not a new concept in India. Big business houses like TATA, Birla Group, etc. have been taking part in this for a long time through charity and donations. Corporates are being aware of their responsibility in upliftment and empowerment of the society, hence, many companies in India realized that it is a sensible step to include CSR activities in their business policy. The main purpose of this initiative these days is to increase the company’s impact on society and its people. Hence, companies are including CSR program and allocating separate fund to support it. CSR have no limitations and don’t discriminate between people on any ground. CSRL stands for Center for Social Responsibility and Leadership, an organization based in Delhi that works towards providing financial support to the poor and underprivileged students of society. It acts as a bridge between corporates involved in CSR program and the one who deserve the benefits. Its entire focus is on giving something back to the society, nurturing young and aspiring minds, and make them enable to compete with privileged and opulent section of society. CSRL aims to fulfill its social responsibility in India. India is among one of the fastest-growing economy of the world and it is supposed to become a $5.0 trillion economy very soon. Businesses are prospering here. The income of people is on the rise. People are living a better life than before. But despite all these facts, there is some bitter fact which needs to be recognized- the rise in the socio-economic gap and income inequality. It is right that the income of people has increased over the last few years but if we go by a recent report that says that India’s 90% wealth is in the hand of 1% of the population. This shows the income disparity in India. Millions of people are still living under poverty in India. The best way to break this cycle of poverty is through education. It helps overcome inequality, provides development, speeds up social transformations, etc. Government is doing its part to reduce this perennial poverty and so far, millions have been brought out of it. But is the responsibility of corporates also to play their part in the upliftment of downtrodden of society. CSRL, Center for Social Responsibility and Leadership, is a registered society in Delhi that works in the fields of education for poor and underprivileged students. Their focus is on those students who are talented but lack financial freedom to unleash their talent. CSRL provides a platform for these children to get financial help from corporates under corporate social responsibility in India as enacted by the government. There are various dimensions of CSRL:
Through their Super 30 program, they aim to give something back to society, nurturing talent, providing support to underprivileged through education, and make them able to compete for the prestigious colleges and universities in India. They are fulfilling social responsibility in India to uplift the underprivileged. |
